plastic waste
Plastics is a both a bless and a curse. Its durability has enabled use in a variety of applications, but also hindered degradation and caused a wast environmental problem with waste plastic being present in every ecosystem. Since broadly introduced on the market in the 1950’s, several billion tonnes of plastics have been produced, and most of this is still around since only a minor part has yet been recycled or incinerated.
Thermochemical recycling where polymers are being decomposed to yield raw material for new plastic production is an emerging technology that will be an important tool to close the loop and enable the plastic industry to go circular.
BioShare’s technology enables control of temperature, residence time and other reaction conditions, which enables chemical recycling of a number of polymer grades with a high tolerance for impurities.
